At the BDC Shanghai 2025 summit hosted by the World Broadband Association (WBBA), Huawei’s Executive Director of the Board, David Wang, introduced a transformative AI-driven Ultra-Broadband (UBB) solution designed to futureproof global network infrastructure. Emphasizing the role of AI in powering the next phase of network evolution, Huawei unveiled four core sub-solutions – AI FAN, AI OTN, AI WAN, and ADN – aimed at reshaping broadband connectivity across home, enterprise, and backbone networks to meet the demands of increasingly sophisticated AI applications.

These solutions mark a major leap toward embedding intelligence into network devices to enhance end-to-end capabilities, ensure ultra-fast and stable data transmission, and boost network autonomy. Huawei's AI FAN (Fixed Access Network) revolutionizes home broadband by transforming existing home gateways into intelligent AI portals. It enables users to seamlessly interact with devices via voice, gesture, or video, while introducing high-speed standards like 50G PON to support demanding applications such as ultra-HD video and multi-modal smart services. This allows operators to deliver next-generation intelligent home experiences with ubiquitous 10 Gbit/s access.

On the transport side, the AI OTN (Optical Transport Network) sub-solution introduces optical-electrical synergy with native intelligence to meet the low-latency and SLA demands of AI workloads. With features like one-hop data center access, sub-wavelength-level switching, and digital twin-based optical simulations, AI OTN ensures agile and reliable compute scheduling between cloud, edge, and devices – a critical need in an era where urban computing and real-time inference dominate network traffic.

For IP bearer networks, Huawei’s AI WAN solution leverages advanced AI models to classify encrypted and high-bandwidth flows with precision, offering differentiated quality of service and lossless transmission. Integrated security engines in routers help detect and eliminate threats in real time, enhancing trust in AI-powered digital services.

Meanwhile, Huawei's Autonomous Driving Network (ADN) strategy proposes a layered, AI-assisted control architecture to push UBB networks toward Level 4 autonomy. By combining intelligent hardware, AI agents, digital twins, and the Telecom Foundation Model, ADN enables unified management of diverse network types. It automates troubleshooting, service provisioning, and even personnel deployment, dramatically reducing operational overhead and improving responsiveness.

David Wang closed his keynote by stressing that the rapid progress of artificial general intelligence (AGI), multimodal LLMs, and techniques like Mixture of Experts and model distillation are rapidly lowering inference costs and accelerating adoption. In response, Huawei is embracing an “All Intelligence” strategy, prioritizing full-stack AI development and open ecosystems to support digital transformation across sectors. He called on the industry to collaboratively redefine UBB standards, business models, and application ecosystems to unlock the full potential of AI in telecom.

Huawei showcased these advances at MWC Shanghai 2025, held from June 18–20, underscoring its commitment to supporting the global shift toward intelligent, AI-native networks.
