vivo marked its 30th anniversary with the vivo Vision Launch Event & Imaging Grand Ceremony in Dongguan. At the event, the company unveiled its latest innovation, the vivo Vision Discovery Edition, the brand’s first Mixed Reality (MR) headset. This launch represents a significant milestone in vivo’s journey into spatial computing and immersive technology. Leveraging its expertise in imaging, sensors, and display systems, vivo has successfully overcome critical engineering challenges in MR devices, particularly in perception, interaction, and computational performance. The release of Vision Discovery Edition positions vivo as the first Chinese smartphone manufacturer to enter the MR sector.

Hu Baishan, Executive Vice President & COO of vivo and President of the vivo Central Research Institute, highlighted that vivo’s 30-year journey is not just about reflecting on past achievements, but about forging its own path through dedication and innovation. He emphasized that vivo’s philosophy remains rooted in humanity, driven by technology, and always putting users first, with the long-term vision of building a business that endures for generations.

The Vision Discovery Edition has been in development for four years and runs on OriginOS Vision, enabling natural and intuitive user interactions. It offers seamless access to digital experiences, including immersive entertainment, gaming, and productivity. The device can simulate a 120-foot theater screen, giving users a cinematic viewing experience anytime, anywhere.

In conjunction with its 30th anniversary, vivo also announced a comprehensive upgrade to its imaging strategy. The new approach focuses on scenario integration and building a complete imaging ecosystem. This strategy strengthens vivo’s long-standing capabilities in night photography, portraits, telephoto, and video, while addressing growing user demand for versatile, scenario-based imaging experiences.

As the first Chinese smartphone brand to join the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), vivo is committed to safeguarding content integrity through traceability and verifiability. The company also revealed plans to expand into health imaging, including the development of a portable slit lamp for ophthalmic diagnostics, combining telephoto macro technology from the vivo X200 series with medical-grade optics.

vivo further reinforced its global partnership with ZEISS, coinciding with the launch of the vivo V60 in Malaysia. The flagship introduces an industry-leading 10x ZEISS telephoto portrait system, a 50MP ZEISS Super Telephoto lens, and the large-format IMX882 sensor, also featured in the vivo X200 series. With two golden portrait focal lengths at 85mm and 100mm, the V60 delivers professional-level portrait photography with stunning detail. According to Mike Xu, CEO of vivo Malaysia, this collaboration with ZEISS brings world-class imaging technology to local users while continuing vivo’s legacy of leadership in portrait imaging.

In addition, vivo continues to advance its self-developed Blueprint Imaging Technology, which integrates chips, sensors, and algorithms to drive breakthroughs in mobile imaging. Key innovations include the industry’s first dual-chip architecture with the VS1 pre-processing chip and V3+ chip, advanced system-level sensor technology, and next-generation large-model imaging algorithms. Together, these innovations deliver enhanced clarity, natural detail, and reliable ultra-telephoto imaging up to 30x.

With three decades of innovation as its foundation, vivo reaffirms its commitment to user-centric technology, long-term collaboration, and technical excellence. Through its new imaging strategy and the launch of its first MR headset, vivo continues to shape a future of technology defined by creativity, precision, and meaningful human impact.
