vivo has officially unveiled its first mixed reality (MR) headset, the vivo Vision Discovery Edition, during the vivo Vision Launch Event & Imaging Grand Ceremony. This landmark debut marks a pivotal moment in vivo’s journey into spatial computing and immersive technology, highlighting the brand’s continuous drive to explore beyond traditional smartphone innovation.
Building on its deep expertise in imaging, sensors, and display technologies, vivo has successfully tackled key engineering challenges in MR development, including perception, interaction, and computational performance. As the first MR product developed by a smartphone manufacturer in China, the vivo Vision Discovery Edition positions vivo as the country’s first company to operate in both the smartphone and mixed reality product sectors a milestone that underscores its leadership in next-generation consumer technology.
Four years in development, the vivo Vision Discovery Edition reflects the company’s commitment to innovation and its user-first philosophy. Designed for everyday use, the device features a lightweight and ergonomically refined build, weighing only 398 grams with a height of 83 millimeters and a thickness of 40 millimeters. It is 26 percent smaller than the industry average, offering enhanced comfort for extended wear. Extensive human factors research guided the design, which includes four sizes of light seals and eight foam padding options, ensuring a personalized and secure fit even during long sessions or active movement.
Powering the vivo Vision Discovery Edition is the cutting-edge Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 platform, delivering up to 2.5 times greater GPU performance and 8 times higher AI performance compared to its predecessor. This remarkable upgrade enables the headset to deliver rich, responsive visuals and seamless spatial computing experiences.
Running on the new OriginOS Vision, the headset introduces natural and intuitive ways for users to interact within virtual spaces. It provides an all-in-one portal to immersive entertainment, gaming, and productivity experiences. Users can enjoy panoramic video views from any angle, switching between perspectives in live sports or e-sports broadcasts without missing a moment. For a true cinematic escape, the headset can simulate a 120-foot virtual theater screen, allowing users to enjoy large-scale viewing experiences anywhere, anytime.
Now announced for Malaysia, the vivo Vision Discovery Edition is available for hands-on experiences at selected vivo Concept Stores nationwide. Its launch represents vivo’s next step in expanding the OriginOS Vision ecosystem beyond smartphones, bringing consumers a more seamless and immersive connection to their digital worlds.
