KUALA LUMPUR, 29 June 2026
Malaysia has reached another milestone in its digital transformation journey with the graduation of the first cohort under the AWS–Exabytes cloud skills initiative. A total of 108 learners successfully completed the training programme delivered through the Exabytes Centre of Cloud Excellence (CCoE) in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Forward College. The programme forms part of a RM4.3 million, two-year initiative aimed at equipping Malaysians with industry-relevant cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) skills while creating stronger pathways into the country's fast-growing digital economy.

Designed for unemployed, underemployed and career-transitioning Malaysians, the programme combines cloud training, professional certification pathways and career readiness support. Participants also receive opportunities to connect with employers through hiring partners such as Exabytes, Hiredly, altSHIFT, PAIX and Consurv Technic. Even before graduation, more than 15 per cent of the first cohort had already secured job interviews or employment offers, highlighting the programme's effectiveness in bridging the gap between training and employability.

The initiative arrives at a time when Malaysia's demand for digital talent continues to accelerate. Growth in cloud computing, AI and digital infrastructure has created increasing demand for professionals with specialised technical skills. Industry leaders believe structured programmes that combine practical learning with employer engagement are essential to developing a workforce capable of supporting the country's digital ambitions under initiatives such as MyDIGITAL and Malaysia Digital.

Beyond technical training, the programme places strong emphasis on career preparation. Participants receive hands-on learning experiences, career coaching and exposure to real-world industry requirements, ensuring they graduate with both technical competencies and workplace readiness. The positive response is reflected in the growing enrolment for upcoming cohorts, demonstrating strong interest among Malaysians seeking to build careers in cloud technology and digital services.

The AWS–Exabytes collaboration is also part of the broader Exabytes Centre of Cloud Excellence (CCoE), which aims to strengthen Malaysia's technology ecosystem by bringing together businesses, education providers and cloud technology leaders. Alongside the cloud skills programme, the initiative also offers the fully sponsored NitroDegree in Applied Software Engineering, providing additional opportunities for aspiring technology professionals to gain industry-recognised qualifications and practical experience.

As Malaysia continues investing in its digital economy, collaborative initiatives between industry and education providers will play a vital role in developing future-ready talent. The graduation of the first AWS–Exabytes cohort demonstrates how targeted skills development, professional certification and employer partnerships can create meaningful employment opportunities while helping build a highly skilled workforce capable of supporting the nation's long-term digital growth.
