Malaysia/ LONDON and TOKYO, August 5, 2026 — NTT DATA has announced NTT DATA AI for Insurance, an AI-native agentic solution designed to transform complex insurance workflows into governed and repeatable services. Developed specifically for highly regulated insurance environments, the Service-as-Software solution combines configurable AI agents, insurance-specific data models, workflow orchestration and enterprise-grade governance to support auditability, regulatory compliance and human oversight.

The new solution aims to help insurance carriers modernise key operations including underwriting, claims processing and customer service while improving productivity across the organisation. Powered by NTT DATA AIVista, the company’s AI-native product platform, NTT DATA AI for Insurance combines a prebuilt insurance foundation with flexible configuration and targeted customisation, allowing insurers to deploy AI more quickly while adapting the solution to their products, processes, operating models and regulatory requirements.

Designed for open integration, the platform can work alongside existing insurance systems and enterprise technology environments, allowing insurers to adopt AI capabilities without being locked into a particular core system. Its model-routing capabilities also provide flexibility by allowing carriers to work with different foundation models rather than depending on a single AI model provider.

Bruno Abril, Global Lead of the Insurance Industry at NTT DATA, said artificial intelligence can strengthen insurers’ ability to manage risk and deliver on their commitments while supporting human expertise. He noted that NTT DATA AI for Insurance enables intelligent systems to operate within a governed framework, helping insurers move from AI-enabled workflows towards AI-delivered operations at enterprise scale while maintaining the governance standards expected by regulators and company boards.

The launch comes as insurance companies face increasing pressure to expand underwriting capacity, accelerate claims and service processes, improve risk selection and reduce loss ratios while meeting growing governance expectations. According to NTT DATA’s 2026 Global AI Report: A Playbook for AI Leaders in Insurance, around two-thirds of insurers are looking to deploy AI in front-office interactions, while 86% support its use in back- and mid-office workflows. However, many insurers have yet to fully industrialise agentic AI across their core operations.

NTT DATA AI for Insurance is built around an agentic architecture featuring specialised models and AI agents trained on carrier and industry-specific data. The system also incorporates dedicated guardrails designed to embed governance into AI decision-making, supporting deterministic and auditable outcomes that can help insurers meet regulatory and internal governance requirements.

Another key component is the platform’s AI-native knowledge base and proprietary insurance data genome, which provide AI agents with the context required to interpret submissions, policies, claims and regulatory requirements. The solution also features prebuilt and configurable AI agents designed to accelerate deployment across underwriting, claims, customer service and other insurance workflows, with NTT DATA stating that deployment can be up to three times faster.

The platform further incorporates cognitive and event-driven agent orchestration to coordinate AI agents, employees, existing systems and business processes according to each insurer’s operational requirements. This approach is intended to help carriers connect AI capabilities with their existing workflows while maintaining human involvement where judgement and decision-making remain critical.

The growing adoption of agentic AI in insurance is also reflected in industry demand for solutions that can turn large volumes of data into actionable insights. Prashant Hinge, Chief Information Officer at MSIG USA, said AI has the potential to help insurers identify high-risk claims earlier, improve consistency throughout claims processes and provide claims professionals with insights that support faster and better-informed decisions.

NTT DATA has been recognised as a leader in the HFS Horizons: Agentic Services, 2026 Research Report and the ISG Provider Lens – Insurance Services – Strategic Capabilities for Insurance GenAI and Agentic AI Services. Globally, the company serves 10 of the world’s 25 largest insurers, operates 16 insurance-focused delivery centres and employs more than 12,000 insurance specialists.

With NTT DATA AI for Insurance, the company is positioning agentic AI as a practical technology for transforming insurance operations while balancing automation with governance, regulatory requirements and human oversight. The solution reflects the industry’s growing shift towards AI-driven operations that can be deployed at scale while remaining adaptable to the complex needs of individual insurance carriers.
