Hong Kong, 20 August 2026 – The Langham Hotels and Resorts has introduced "Luminaries in Residence," a new global event series that brings its "Your Story. Our Legacy." brand campaign to life through exhibitions, performances and immersive cultural experiences. The initiative celebrates the creative journeys of distinguished artists, designers and culinary talents who represent the brand as Langham Luminaries, with the inaugural edition spotlighting renowned Chinese musical theatre star Ayanga.
The first showcase, "The Artistry of Ayanga," is a behind-the-scenes photography exhibition inspired by the original musical "The Message." Ayanga, who is widely recognised for his leading role in the Chinese production of "The Phantom of the Opera," created the musical adaptation based on acclaimed author Mai Jia's celebrated spy novel of the same name.
Featuring more than 25 photographs, the exhibition offers visitors an intimate glimpse into the creative process behind the production. Rather than focusing solely on the final performance, the collection captures rehearsal room preparations, quiet moments of reflection, and the shared triumph of the cast and creative team as they brought the musical to life on stage.
The exhibition is open to the public at The Langham Shanghai Xintiandi until 10 September 2026, inviting guests and art enthusiasts to experience the dedication and collaborative spirit behind one of China's most celebrated musical productions.

According to Langham Hospitality Group CEO Bob van den Oord, the launch reflects the brand's long-standing connection with the arts. He noted that The Langham has served as a gathering place for artists and visionaries for more than 160 years, and that "Luminaries in Residence" extends this tradition by creating opportunities for guests to engage more closely with the people and stories shaping contemporary culture.
The new global series also builds on The Langham's award-winning "Your Story. Our Legacy." campaign, which debuted in 2025. The campaign highlights individuals whose achievements in culture, design and gastronomy embody the brand's evolving legacy while showcasing the personal journeys that inspire their creative work.
Ayanga officially joined the Langham Luminaries programme in early 2026, becoming part of a growing community of internationally recognised creative figures. His involvement marks the beginning of a broader programme that aims to connect guests with influential artists through meaningful and immersive experiences.
Looking ahead, "Luminaries in Residence" will expand to The Langham properties worldwide, with future events set to feature Grammy Award-winning violinist Joshua Bell alongside other creative collaborations that will be announced as the series continues to grow.
