marked the launch of Nestlé® Omega Plus Walk A Million Miles 2026 by reaffirming their longstanding partnership and shared commitment to championing heart health through greater awareness, education and access to health screenings for Malaysians.

Kuala Lumpur, 3
rd September 2026
In conjunction with World Heart Month and in support of the World Heart Federation’s 2026 theme, “Don’t Miss A Beat”, Nestlé® Omega Plus is strengthening its heart-health education, screening and preventive efforts among young Malaysians through its longstanding collaborations with Yayasan Jantung Malaysia (YJM) and Institut Jantung Negara Foundation (IJNF).

This year, Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) is also joining the World Heart Month activation, with young adults within the PTPTN community among the beneficiaries of Nestlé® Omega Plus’ initiative to provide 10,000 health screenings and heart-health education.

The initiative recognises that health habits established during young adulthood can have a lasting impact on lifelong wellbeing. Through greater access to screening and education, Nestlé® Omega Plus aims to encourage young Malaysians to understand their health numbers, identify potential cardiovascular risks and adopt healthier habits earlier.

The focus comes amid growing concerns over cardiovascular health among younger Malaysians. While heart disease is commonly associated with older adults, risk factors such as high cholesterol, hypertension and diabetes can develop much earlier and often remain undetected due to the absence of obvious symptoms.

Dr Fa'iz Mashood, Clinical Fellow in Cardiology at Institut Jantung Negara, said findings from the National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) 2023 highlight a concerning gap in health awareness among young Malaysians. An estimated 95% of raised cholesterol cases, 80% of hypertension cases and 84% of diabetes cases remain undiagnosed.

HCP FORUM “DON’T MISS A BEAT”

The survey also found that two in five Malaysian adults had not undergone health screening in the previous year, with some avoiding screening because they did not experience any symptoms. This highlights the importance of regular health checks as an essential first step towards identifying potential risks early.

However, screening alone is not enough to maintain long-term heart health. Prevention also depends on everyday lifestyle choices, including staying physically active, eating a balanced diet and developing sustainable habits that can support overall wellbeing.

Ms. Foong Pui Hing, Senior Principal Dietitian at Institut Jantung Negara, said healthy nutrition forms an important foundation for long-term heart health. She highlighted the importance of a balanced diet that includes fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, fish and unsaturated oils, while limiting highly processed foods.

Addressing cardiovascular health therefore requires both individual action and sustained efforts to make education, screening and preventive support more accessible to communities.

Nestlé® Omega Plus contributed a total of RM200,000 to Yayasan Jantung Malaysia and IJN Foundation, with RM100,000 presented to each organisation to support heart patients in need, as well as research, education and outreach programmes that advance heart-health awareness in Malaysia.

The initiative builds on Nestlé® Omega Plus’ continued commitment to heart health in Malaysia, evolving from awareness-building towards greater screening and preventive action. Through its annual Nestlé® Omega Plus Walk A Million Miles campaign and ongoing collaborations with YJM and IJNF, the programme supported 98,593 health screenings in 2025 and aims to double its screening reach by 2027.

As part of this continued commitment, Nestlé® Omega Plus will also maintain its annual contribution of RM100,000 each to YJM and IJNF. The funding will support both organisations in expanding their heart-health education, outreach and screening initiatives.

Dato' Dr Aljafri Abdul Majid, Chairman of Yayasan Jantung Malaysia, said Nestlé® Omega Plus has been a valued partner in advancing heart-health awareness in Malaysia. The continued support enables YJM to expand programmes that encourage Malaysians to better understand their cardiovascular risks and adopt healthier lifestyles.

Meanwhile, Toh Puan Hajjah Aishah Ong, Chairman of Institut Jantung Negara Foundation, said sustained partnerships are essential to creating meaningful health impact. She added that Nestlé® Omega Plus’ continued support helps extend the reach of education and screening initiatives while empowering Malaysians to take proactive steps towards better heart health.

Juan Aranols, Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé Malaysia, said promoting healthier lifestyles requires more than awareness alone. Through its collaboration with YJM and IJNF, Nestlé® Omega Plus aims to help more young Malaysians gain access to heart-health education, screening and preventive support.

Make A Heart Pledge

Guests and partners showed their support for better heart health by making personal heart-health pledges, reinforcing the message that small, consistent lifestyle changes can make a meaningful difference.

Nestlé® Omega Plus is also expanding its heart-health portfolio with the introduction of Nestlé® Omega Gold UHT, a convenient format developed for working and on-the-go adults. The product offers three nutritional benefits, including 1.2g of plant sterol ActiCol® to help lower cholesterol, potassium to support normal blood pressure, and inulin to support good blood glucose control when consumed as recommended as part of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.

The broader commitment is being showcased through the Nestlé® Omega Plus Walk A Million Miles 2026 media launch at MyTOWN Kuala Lumpur. The event brings together a healthcare forum themed “Don’t Miss A Beat”, health screenings, educational activities and a pledge platform encouraging Malaysians to take action for their heart health.

PTPTN is also participating through a dedicated booth at the event, providing an additional platform to engage young Malaysians and encourage greater awareness of preventive health practices.

Building on the milestone achieved in 2025, the Nestlé® Omega Plus Walk A Million Miles 2026 virtual challenge will run from 1 September to 31 October 2026, while the physical walk is scheduled to take place on 19 September 2026 in Putrajaya.

By bringing together health screening, education, nutrition and physical activity, Nestlé® Omega Plus, YJM and IJNF are seeking to encourage Malaysians, particularly younger adults, to take a more proactive approach to heart health. The initiative reinforces the importance of understanding cardiovascular risks early and making heart-healthy choices part of everyday life.
