Kuala Lumpur, 5 September 2026
— The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and Bursa Malaysia Berhad have joined forces to strengthen investor education and promote informed investment decisions through the inaugural InvestSmart® x Bursa Marketplace Fair 2026. The two-day event, held at the Pavilion Bukit Jalil Exhibition Centre, brings together the flagship investor engagement platforms of both organisations for the first time.

The fair was officially launched by Secretary-General of Treasury Tan Sri Johan Mahmood Merican and is held under the theme “Smart Investing for Everyone”. The initiative aims to help Malaysians navigate an increasingly diverse investment landscape while equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to make responsible financial decisions and protect themselves from investment scams.

As more Malaysians gain access to various investment products, digital platforms and online financial information, investor education and financial literacy have become increasingly important. Through this collaboration, SC and Bursa Malaysia aim to expand their outreach and provide the public with easier access to trusted information, market insights and practical guidance on investing.

The event combines educational sessions with opportunities for visitors to engage directly with market experts, financial institutions, regulators, listed companies, crowdfunding platforms and other industry practitioners. Up to 40 exhibitors are participating in the fair, giving members of the public an opportunity to learn more about investment opportunities while gaining a better understanding of the risks involved.

SC Chairman Dato' Mohammad Faiz Azmi said wider participation in the capital market is important in building a financially resilient and inclusive society. He noted that concerns about fraud and limited access to reliable investment information can discourage Malaysians from investing, adding that the collaboration is intended to empower individuals with trusted financial information and digital investment tools.

The SC's data also highlights growing awareness among Malaysians about the importance of conducting due diligence before investing. Between January and July 2026, the regulator received 1,272 enquiries from individuals seeking to verify investment opportunities before investing, compared with 530 complaints from scam victims. The figures indicate that more people are taking steps to verify potential investments before committing their money.

Bursa Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Fad’l Mohamed said the collaboration would make it easier for Malaysians, particularly younger investors, to explore investment opportunities and strengthen their financial knowledge. He said bringing market experts, listed companies and financial institutions together under one roof could help more Malaysians take the next step from saving to investing while supporting a more vibrant and inclusive capital market.

Retail participation in Malaysia's capital market has also continued to grow. More than 342,000 new Central Depository System (CDS) accounts were opened during the first six months of 2026, representing an increase of approximately 24% from the same period in 2025. Around 60% of these new accounts belonged to investors aged 35 and below, reflecting stronger participation among younger Malaysians.

The fair offers a wide-ranging programme covering investment fundamentals, stock market investing, technical analysis, portfolio building, market outlooks, financial planning, investor protection and scam awareness. A dedicated FEN Pavilion will also highlight initiatives under the National Strategy for Financial Literacy 2026–2030, while the Anti-Scam Zone will provide guidance on identifying scam tactics, verifying investment opportunities and protecting against financial fraud.

Held under the theme “Smart Investing for Everyone”, the InvestSmart x Bursa Marketplace Fair 2026 brings up to more than 40 exhibitors together, giving visitors direct access to market experts, financial intermediaries, regulators, public-listed companies, crowdfunding platforms and industry practitioners.

Visitors can also benefit from free one-on-one financial planning consultations with licensed financial planners through the FinPlan4u® initiative. In addition, the event features quizzes, prize giveaways, free health screenings and activities for children, making the fair accessible to individuals and families interested in improving their financial knowledge.

With admission free, the InvestSmart® x Bursa Marketplace Fair 2026 provides Malaysians with an opportunity to learn, ask questions and gain practical knowledge about investing in a safer and more informed environment. The joint initiative reflects the commitment of SC and Bursa Malaysia to building a financially literate investor community and encouraging Malaysians to make investment decisions with greater confidence and responsibility.
