KUALA LUMPUR, 15 SEPTEMBER 2026
The Makeover Guys has partnered with RHB Bank Berhad as its Home Makeover Partner to introduce the Makeover Flexi Loan, Powered by RHB Bank, an integrated financing solution designed to help eligible customers finance both their home purchase and renovation under a single facility, with financing of up to 120% of the property's value.

The new financing solution comes as demand for home renovations continues to grow in Malaysia. The country's home improvement and renovation market was valued at RM47.7 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach RM59.2 billion by 2029, driven by homeowners seeking to upgrade their living spaces in line with changing lifestyles and personal preferences.

While home financing is widely available, renovation costs are traditionally treated as a separate financial commitment. As a result, homeowners may need to secure additional financing or use their personal savings after purchasing a property before beginning renovation works. The Makeover Flexi Loan offers an alternative by bringing home purchase and renovation financing together under one facility, allowing eligible customers to plan both requirements from the outset.

Under the Makeover Flexi Loan, customers can obtain up to 90% financing for property purchase, together with an additional financing component of up to 30% for renovation works, Mortgage Reducing Term Assurance or Takaful (MRTA/MRTT), as well as legal and documentation fees. The facility comes with a financing tenure of up to 35 years or until the borrower reaches 70 years of age, whichever comes first.

The facility also features full Flexi functionality, enabling customers to make additional repayments and redraw funds according to their financial needs. Renovation financing is progressively disbursed based on contractor milestones throughout the renovation process, making the facility suitable for both homeowners and property investors.

According to Gavin Liew, Founder and CEO of The Makeover Guys, homeowners often face a significant financial commitment for renovations shortly after purchasing a property, with typical renovation costs ranging between RM50,000 and RM150,000 depending on the type of property. He said the integrated financing approach allows homeowners to plan their property purchase and renovation together, providing greater financial certainty and helping them realise their intended living spaces sooner.

Meanwhile, Sien Vee Loc, Head of Consumer Finance, Group Community Banking, RHB Bank Berhad, said changing homeownership needs require financing solutions to evolve accordingly. The partnership brings together RHB Bank's financing expertise and The Makeover Guys' renovation capabilities to address the growing demand for a more connected homeownership experience.

The collaboration comes against the backdrop of an evolving Malaysian property market, where buyers are increasingly looking beyond simply financing the purchase of a property. The residential segment remained the largest contributor to Malaysia's property market in the first quarter of 2026, accounting for 58.8% of total property transactions, with nearly 53,000 residential transactions worth more than RM22 billion.

Beyond financing, the partnership connects customers with The Makeover Guys' end-to-end renovation expertise, covering consultation, curated interior design, project management and construction. This provides customers with a more connected journey from purchasing a property and securing financing to completing their renovation.

By bringing financing and renovation services closer together, The Makeover Guys and RHB Bank aim to make quality home renovations more accessible while giving homeowners and property investors greater clarity over costs, timelines and project delivery. The initiative reflects a broader shift towards financing solutions that support the overall homeownership journey rather than focusing solely on property acquisition.
