After captivating audiences with her soul-stirring pop-folk melodies, Bunga Reyza is proving to be a true musical chameleon. The songstress has officially unveiled a daring new alter-ego, Mingse, marking a vibrant shift in her artistic journey with the release of the hipdut-infused single, “Astaga Bercanda.”
Far from a mere genre experiment, this transition is a homecoming for Bunga. Collaborating with Bengkulu-born producer Akbar Chalay, she taps into a lifelong connection to dangdut music—a passion she says was "passed down" by her mother since childhood. The decision to introduce ‘Mingse’ was a strategic and creative move to keep her musical worlds distinct. While Bunga Reyza remains the outlet for her serious pop-folk projects, Mingse serves as the high-energy, expressive persona dedicated to the rising hipdut genre.
Bunga explains that after discussing the direction with her team at Sony Music, they decided to pursue both paths under different names to maintain a clear boundary. Mingse found the recording process for “Astaga Bercanda” surprisingly natural, noting that her innate "dangdut soul" allowed her to embrace the rhythmic demands of the track with ease.
The track itself, written by a talented creative team including Giant Prayash Trinanda and Nabil Adesya Putra, dives into the complexities of modern relationships. It tells the relatable yet bittersweet story of two people with mutual feelings who are held back because one is already in a relationship. Rather than interfering or playing the "second choice," the song’s protagonist chooses to wait for the right moment to be the priority.
Fans of Bunga’s folk roots need not worry, as the artist emphasizes that this isn't a replacement, but an expansion. Both Bunga Reyza and Mingse will coexist, moving forward side-by-side with their own unique projects, visual styles, and attitudes. With a fresh look and a sound designed to get listeners moving, Mingse’s debut is set to inject a burst of positive energy and catchy melodies into the digital charts.
“Astaga Bercanda” by Akbar Chalay and Mingse is available on all major digital streaming platforms starting May 8, 2026.
