The landscape of modern employment is shifting, and the partnership between Herbalife and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) is ensuring that students are not left behind. By hosting a specialized Entrepreneurship Talk at the Faculty of Sports Science and Recreation (FSR), the global health and wellness leader has opened a new door for students, one that leads away from traditional job hunting and toward self-driven career success. The initiative focuses on the growing demand for wellness professionals, positioning entrepreneurship as a viable and immediate option rather than a distant post-graduation dream.
Steven Chin, Senior Director and General Manager of Herbalife Malaysia and Singapore, delivered a powerful message to the gathered students: the future of work belongs to those who are proactive. Highlighting that over 30% of Malaysian Gen Z are already looking to start their own businesses, Chin explained that the barriers to entry in the wellness industry have never been lower. With a proven system and low startup costs, Herbalife offers a unique platform where students can develop essential business skills, such as sales, marketing, and leadership, while still completing their academic degrees.
The collaboration goes beyond simple business advice, serving as a critical bridge between the classroom and the professional world. Associate Professor Dr. Hosni Hasan, Deputy Dean of FSR, emphasized that these sessions are instrumental in helping students understand real-world industry expectations. By integrating industry insights into the university experience, the program helps students cultivate a "business-ready" mindset, allowing them to explore diverse pathways in the health sector that they may not have previously considered.
Real-world inspiration came from the stories of UiTM alumni who have spent nearly two decades as Herbalife distributors. These individuals, who transitioned from engineering and other non-business backgrounds, demonstrated that success in entrepreneurship is about consistency and the willingness to learn. Their success stories provided a tangible blueprint for current students, proving that the tools for a prosperous career are already within their reach if they have the courage to start early and seek the right mentorship.
Since its formalization in 2022, the Herbalife-UiTM alliance has reached thousands of young Malaysians, blending physical wellness with financial literacy. As the program expands to include advanced nutrition sessions led by global experts, it continues to reinforce its mission: to unlock the untapped potential of UiTM’s youth. By empowering this next generation with alternative career pathways, Herbalife and UiTM are building a more resilient, health-conscious, and entrepreneurially-minded workforce for Malaysia’s future.
