Weight is often one of the most sensitive topics women face throughout their lives. Behind every conversation about body image lies a much deeper story shaped by motherhood, career pressures, hormonal changes, stress and personal experiences. Yet despite how common these challenges are, many women continue to struggle in silence.
Recognising the need for a more open and honest dialogue, OVA has partnered with three of Malaysia's most recognisable women — Siti Nordiana, Diana Danielle and Shila Amzah — to encourage greater awareness around obesity and women's health.
While millions of Malaysians know them as entertainers, singers and actresses, the campaign reveals a more personal side of the three women. Beyond the spotlight, they face many of the same challenges experienced by women across the country as they navigate family responsibilities, professional commitments and personal wellbeing.
At the heart of the campaign is a simple message: weight management is about much more than appearance. Factors such as hormones, genetics, stress levels, pregnancy, ageing and lifestyle changes all contribute to a person's health journey.
For Siti Nordiana, balancing motherhood and a demanding career has taught her the importance of prioritising health while managing multiple responsibilities. She believes many women place themselves last while caring for everyone around them, often overlooking their own wellbeing in the process.
Diana Danielle understands what it feels like to have personal changes scrutinised publicly. Having spent much of her life in the public eye, she has experienced firsthand how conversations about appearance can sometimes overshadow important discussions about health.
Meanwhile, Shila Amzah shared how becoming a mother significantly changed her outlook on life. It inspired her to think more seriously about maintaining her health not only for herself but also for her family and future.
Their stories mirror the experiences of countless Malaysian women. According to national health statistics, more than half of Malaysian women are currently classified as overweight or obese, highlighting the need for greater awareness and support.
Through OVA, women can access licensed doctors, personalised treatment plans and ongoing medical support through a convenient telehealth platform. The service is designed to help women seek professional guidance without disrupting their daily routines.
By combining real-life stories with accessible healthcare solutions, OVA hopes to break down stigma, encourage more meaningful conversations and inspire women to take positive steps towards healthier and more fulfilling lives. The campaign ultimately serves as a reminder that every woman's health journey is unique and that support should always be within reach.
