KUALA LUMPUR, 12 June 2026
As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to transform the recruitment landscape, trust and authenticity have become increasingly important for both employers and jobseekers. With AI-generated resumes and digital job applications becoming more common, employers are placing greater emphasis on verified credentials to identify genuine candidates, while jobseekers are seeking new ways to stand out in an increasingly competitive employment market.

To address these evolving hiring challenges, Jobstreet by SEEK has expanded the capabilities of SEEK Pass, its digital credential passport designed to help jobseekers securely verify and share their professional credentials with potential employers. The platform aims to improve transparency throughout the hiring process by enabling candidates to validate important information such as their identity, work rights, employment history, academic qualifications and professional licences.

The latest enhancement to SEEK Pass now allows jobseekers in Malaysia and seven other Asia-Pacific markets to verify and display their IELTS and Pearson Test of English (PTE) qualifications directly on their profiles. Through strategic partnerships with IELTS and Pearson, the feature enables employers to assess English language proficiency with greater confidence while providing candidates with an additional way to strengthen their professional profiles.

English proficiency remains a highly valued skill across many sectors in Malaysia, particularly for positions involving international collaboration, customer service, business communication and multinational operations. By displaying verified language certifications, candidates can provide employers with trusted evidence of their communication capabilities, helping streamline recruitment decisions.

Recent research conducted by SEEK highlights the growing demand for verified credentials in today's digital hiring environment. Nearly eight in ten jobseekers believe that having a verified profile increases employer trust, while two-thirds say the rise of AI has made it more difficult to demonstrate authenticity during the recruitment process. In addition, most candidates value the security, credibility and protection against identity fraud that verified digital profiles provide.

Jobstreet by SEEK Malaysia Managing Director Nicholas Lam said Malaysia's labour market continues to become more competitive as professionals pursue additional certifications and language qualifications to enhance their employability. At the same time, employers are receiving larger volumes of applications and increasingly require reliable indicators that help identify suitable candidates more efficiently.

He noted that verified credentials are expected to play a larger role in modern recruitment by helping employers make more informed hiring decisions while enabling jobseekers to demonstrate their qualifications with greater confidence. As recruitment continues shifting towards digital platforms, transparency and authenticity are becoming valuable differentiators in the employment market.

SEEK Pass continues to evolve beyond identity verification by offering a growing range of credential verification services. In addition to English proficiency, the platform supports verification of employment history, educational qualifications, work eligibility and professional certifications, creating a comprehensive digital profile that employers can trust.

SEEK Pass General Manager Xavier Russo said verified credentials help solve challenges faced by both employers and jobseekers. While employers benefit from faster and more confident hiring decisions, candidates gain stronger visibility and credibility in competitive talent markets where language proficiency is often a key selection criterion.

Since launching across Asia in late 2024, SEEK Pass has seen increasing adoption on Jobstreet and Jobsdb as more professionals seek to enhance their online profiles. Across the Asia-Pacific region, more than five million users have already verified their credentials through the platform, with data showing that verified applicants are significantly more likely to be shortlisted by employers in Australia and New Zealand.

Research from SEEK also suggests that verification offers benefits beyond credibility. Many candidates believe verified profiles increase employer response rates, accelerate the hiring process and improve their ability to compete for job opportunities. As employers continue adopting AI-assisted recruitment tools, verified information is becoming increasingly valuable in helping distinguish authentic candidates from a growing pool of digital applications.

Industry partners have also welcomed the initiative. Representatives from IELTS and Pearson noted that integrating English proficiency verification into SEEK Pass provides employers with trusted language assessment while giving candidates a simpler way to showcase internationally recognised qualifications. The collaboration is expected to support fairer recruitment practices and improve employability across the Asia-Pacific region.

Looking ahead, SEEK Pass plans to expand its network of English proficiency verification partners while continuing to enhance its credential verification ecosystem. As AI reshapes the future of recruitment, trusted digital verification is expected to become an essential component of modern hiring, helping employers recruit with greater confidence while enabling jobseekers to present their qualifications with greater credibility.
