HONOR has officially launched the highly anticipated HONOR Robot Phone in China, introducing a new category in mobile technology that combines robotics, artificial intelligence (AI) and professional-grade imaging. Designed to push beyond the physical limitations of traditional smartphones, the device features a fully motorised mechanical gimbal integrated into its premium body, enabling greater mobility and intelligent interaction. With selected elements of ARRI Image Science and professional cinema workflows, the Robot Phone is positioned as both an intelligent physical companion and a powerful mobile production studio.
At the centre of the device’s design is the HONOR Titanium Agile Gimbal, an ultra-compact 4DoF mechanical system developed through 60 manufacturing processes. The system incorporates more than 100 precision components and is backed by more than 100 patents. Compared with conventional gimbal systems, HONOR has reduced its overall size by 65% while increasing structural strength by 200%, allowing the technology to fit within a pocketable flagship smartphone.
The gimbal is powered by a 2.6-gram Titanium Gimbal Motor capable of reaching control speeds of up to 360 degrees per second, while the HONOR Super Steel Flip Motor delivers a torque density of 120 N·m/L. Together, these technologies allow the camera system to perform fast and precise movements while maintaining stable positioning, opening up new possibilities for mobile photography and videography.
The HONOR Robot Phone also marks the first product milestone from the company’s Cinematic Imaging Partnership with ARRI, a globally recognised name in professional cinema camera technology. Rather than relying solely on conventional smartphone filters, the collaboration adapts selected elements of ARRI Image Science and professional production workflows for mobile use, giving creators greater control over colour, lighting and cinematic aesthetics.
For photography and video, the Robot Phone features a Dual 200MP camera system, comprising a 200MP Agile Gimbal Main Camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and f/1.6 aperture, together with a 200MP Periscope Telephoto Camera featuring a 1/1.4-inch sensor and 2.7x optical zoom. A 50MP Ultra-Wide Camera with a 122-degree field of view further expands the device’s imaging capabilities.
The main camera supports 10-bit ARRI LogC3 recording in ARRI CINEMA mode, while the device combines ARRI LogC3, ARRI Wide Gamut 3 and ARRI Looks with the HONOR H1 Image Chip. AI-powered noise reduction improves video signal-to-noise ratio by 8dB, while AI dynamic range optimisation supports up to 14 stops of dynamic range. The video pipeline processes footage in the RAW domain using 14-bit 4:4:4 data before producing 10-bit LogC3 and 4:2:2 video, preserving more information for professional post-production.
Creators can also preview ARRI Looks in real time and transfer footage into professional editing software such as DaVinci Resolve, where ARRI LUTs can be applied as part of an end-to-end mobile filmmaking workflow. HONOR said the technologies developed through its partnership with ARRI will continue to evolve and will also be showcased in the upcoming HONOR Magic9 Series.
Beyond cinematic imaging, the Robot Phone introduces Embodied AI through MagicOS, transforming the smartphone into an autonomous personal camera crew. Its YOYO Robot Mode combines multimodal perception, contextual understanding, gesture recognition and physical movement, while features such as Voice Source Localization and AI Live-Tracking enable the camera to automatically pan and tilt to keep users within the frame.
The camera arm supports several cinematic movement modes, including Tilt Lock, First Person View (FPV), FPV Vertical and AI SpinShot. Hands-free gesture controls allow users to deploy the camera arm and capture footage without physically touching the device, making it particularly useful for vlogging, livestreaming, video calls and other forms of hands-free content creation.
The device also takes AI beyond imaging through YOYO Auto Execution, which allows the system-level AI agent to understand user intent and carry out complex, multi-step tasks across supported applications and system settings. Through its open Agent Skills interface, HONOR is also enabling third-party developers to explore new experiences based on the Robot Phone’s gimbal, perception and embodied interaction capabilities.
Performance is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform, supported by a customised cooling system designed to maintain performance during demanding tasks and extended recording sessions. The smartphone is equipped with a 7,060mAh next-generation HONOR Silicon-carbon Battery, with support for 120W wired and 50W wireless HONOR SuperCharge.
The premium design is complemented by a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED HONOR AI Eye Comfort Display protected by HONOR NanoCrystal Shield. The screen supports an adaptive refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz and reaches a peak brightness of up to 6,800 nits. It also incorporates advanced eye-comfort features, including 4,320Hz PWM dimming, for a more comfortable viewing experience.
The HONOR Robot Phone has already attracted attention beyond the smartphone industry after being showcased at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in March. Its stabilised tracking capabilities were subsequently demonstrated at Cannes Film Festival’s China Night and the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival, highlighting its potential as a mobile filmmaking tool.
In China, the HONOR Robot Phone is available in two configurations, with the 12GB RAM + 512GB storage model priced at RMB9,999, while the 16GB RAM + 1TB version is priced at RMB12,999. The commercial launch represents the next stage of HONOR’s efforts to bring advanced robotics and professional imaging technologies to everyday consumers.
Meanwhile, HONOR Malaysia has unveiled its new brand logo and “Dare to Be” slogan alongside the Robot Phone launch. The refreshed identity reflects HONOR’s evolution from a smartphone manufacturer into an AI device ecosystem company, with a broader focus on AI, robotics, cinematic imaging, computational photography and cross-device connectivity.
Through the Robot Phone and its expanding AI ecosystem, HONOR aims to challenge conventional ideas of what a smartphone can do. By combining advanced hardware, embodied AI and professional cinematic technology, the company is positioning its latest innovation as a tool that can help creators capture, interact and express themselves in entirely new ways.
