KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, 20 August 2026 – Malaysian clean energy company iHandal, the developer of the HeatFuse® platform, has achieved a significant international milestone after being selected as the only Malaysian company in the inaugural cohort of The Clean Fight’s International Landing Pad. The programme, developed in partnership with the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), is designed to support international clean technology companies in advancing decarbonisation efforts across New York City’s built environment.
iHandal is among 10 companies selected from Malaysia, India, Ireland, Canada, the United Kingdom, Finland, Sweden and Norway. The company was chosen under the Clean Heating & Cooling category alongside Canada’s Carbon Cap and Sweden’s 3eFlow, forming part of a cohort covering four key solution areas that also include Building Intelligence & Retrofit, Energy Infrastructure Platforms and Energy Storage.
The selection highlights iHandal’s proprietary HeatFuse® technology, which captures and recycles waste heat generated by commercial and industrial buildings and converts it into usable clean energy. Through its subscription-based Heating-as-a-Service (HaaS) model, the technology enables customers to access clean heating solutions without the need for upfront hardware investment, offering a potentially more accessible pathway towards energy efficiency and decarbonisation.
iHandal Chief Executive Officer Aaron Patel said being named the sole Malaysian company in the cohort represents recognition of the company’s technological capabilities and demonstrates the potential of Malaysian clean energy innovation on the global stage. He noted that the company’s engineering and research and development capabilities in waste heat recovery were developed and proven in Malaysia before being positioned for opportunities in international markets.
Through its participation in the International Landing Pad, iHandal will gain access to tailored business development and matchmaking opportunities with The Clean Fight’s network of partners across the real estate, retail, utilities and energy storage sectors. The programme will also provide opportunities for capital matchmaking involving venture capital, venture debt, credit and project financing.
The company may also apply for the programme’s Deployment Grant Fund, which offers grants ranging from US$50,000 to US$250,000 to help offset the costs associated with first-of-a-kind deployments in New York City, subject to funding availability. In addition, iHandal will receive support navigating New York’s regulatory and permitting requirements, access to curated industry and investor events, investor exposure and 12 months of shared co-working space in Midtown Manhattan.
The latest recognition builds on iHandal’s previous relationship with The Clean Fight, having participated as an alumnus of its first cohort and completed a New York City pilot project with Kelvin. The International Landing Pad now provides a more structured and long-term pathway for the company to strengthen its presence and explore commercial opportunities in the New York market.
Since its establishment, The Clean Fight’s programmes have supported alumni companies that have collectively secured around US$800 million in follow-on funding, deployed more than 10,000 follow-on projects and created approximately 900 jobs across manufacturing, construction and technology. These outcomes highlight the programme’s role in helping clean technology companies move from innovation and pilot projects towards wider commercial deployment.
For iHandal, the selection marks an important step in its international expansion while highlighting the growing capabilities of Malaysia’s clean technology sector. As cities around the world accelerate efforts to reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency, iHandal’s participation in the programme places its homegrown technology alongside global clean energy innovators and opens new opportunities to contribute to the decarbonisation of New York City’s buildings.
