Dubai, UAE, 10 September 2026: Emirates is taking its award-winning Premium Economy experience to the next level with the introduction of the world’s first electrically powered Premium Economy seat featuring a full-height adjustable privacy screen. Debuting aboard the airline’s newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft, the innovative seat is designed to give passengers greater control over their personal space while enhancing comfort, convenience and privacy throughout the journey.
The new Premium Economy cabin features a spacious 2-3-2 configuration with just 28 seats, offering customers a more intimate and comfortable environment. The electrically operated privacy divider extends to the full height of each seat, marking the first time such a feature has been introduced in a Premium Economy cabin worldwide. The seats are 20 inches wide with a pitch of up to 39 inches on the A350, while their cradle-style recline allows passengers to relax or sleep without intruding into the space of the passenger behind.
Passengers can easily raise or lower the privacy screen using the integrated seat controls and lock it into their preferred position. The fully electric seat also allows customers to adjust their seating position at the touch of a button through the Passenger Control Unit, which includes dedicated settings such as lounge mode and meal mode.
Enhanced Comfort and Personalised Seating
Emirates has further enhanced the Premium Economy experience with its acclaimed U-Dream headrest by Safran Seats. Made from leather, the redesigned headrest provides improved support for the neck and head, with adjustable wings that can be positioned according to individual preferences. A manually deployable leather footrest also provides additional support and helps reduce leg fatigue during longer flights.
For the first time in Emirates Premium Economy, passengers will also have access to wireless charging, allowing compatible devices to be powered conveniently during the flight. Every seat comes equipped with USB-C charging, while the tray table features an integrated phone holder that allows passengers to use their smartphones as a second screen while dining or enjoying entertainment.
Next-Generation Entertainment and Aircraft Views
The upgraded cabin also delivers an enhanced entertainment experience through Emirates’ award-winning ice inflight entertainment system, displayed on a 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreen. The high-definition display is designed to provide sharp visuals alongside responsive navigation.
Passengers travelling on the newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft will also benefit from enhanced external aircraft camera views. In addition to the existing forward and downward perspectives, new left and right exterior views will provide passengers with a broader and more immersive view of their journey.
Elevated Dining and Premium Beverage Selection
The new seat builds on Emirates’ established Premium Economy offering, which combines spacious seating with an elevated dining experience inspired by Business Class. Passengers can enjoy gourmet, regionally influenced dishes prepared by Emirates’ chefs and served on Royal Doulton fine china, accompanied by linen napkins and stainless-steel Robert Welch cutlery.
The dining experience is complemented by a curated range of premium beverages, including Chandon Vintage Brut 2021, an Australian sparkling wine available exclusively to Emirates Premium Economy customers worldwide.
From September, passengers travelling on selected routes will also have the opportunity to enjoy wines such as Chablis Premier Cru Jean-Marc Brocard 2024 and La Parde de Haut-Bailly 2014. In October, Emirates will introduce Wiston Estate Brut NV, its first English sparkling wine, exclusively for Premium Economy passengers travelling on UK routes.
The expanded wine selection reflects Emirates’ long-term commitment to its beverage programme, with the airline having invested more than US$1 billion in its wine portfolio since 2006.
Sustainable Amenity Kits and Premium Skincare
On long-haul services, Emirates Premium Economy passengers will also receive exclusive reusable amenity kits created in partnership with United for Wildlife. Designed around endangered wildlife from four natural habitats, the collectible kits use bio-based materials, including cactus leather alternatives.
For the first time in Premium Economy, the kits will also feature plant-powered skincare products from Aveda, alongside practical travel essentials such as socks, eyeshades, earplugs and dental kits. Sustainable materials have been incorporated throughout the collection as part of the airline’s efforts to offer a more thoughtful onboard experience.
Continuing to Raise the Premium Economy Benchmark
Since its introduction in 2022, Emirates Premium Economy has continued to expand across the airline’s growing fleet and is now available across markets served by its Airbus A350 aircraft. Inspired by the airline’s Business Class experience, the cabin combines spacious seating, generous legroom, refined dining and premium entertainment.
The product has also received multiple international accolades, including Best Premium Economy Class at the Business Traveller Middle East Awards in 2024 and 2025, as well as Airline with the Best Premium Economy Class at the 2025 ULTRAs Awards.
With the introduction of its electrically powered Premium Economy seat and full-height privacy screen, Emirates is continuing its long-standing focus on aviation innovation and customer experience. From onboard connectivity and inflight Wi-Fi to next-generation entertainment and enhanced seating, the airline continues to invest in technologies and services designed to provide passengers with a more comfortable and personalised journey.
