HONOR has expanded its strategic imaging partnership with ARRI to its flagship Magic series with the first public appearance of the HONOR Magic9 Pro Max at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival.

The unveiling highlights HONOR’s continued efforts to bring elements of professional cinematic imaging and filmmaking workflows to mobile devices, combining its expertise in mobile imaging and advanced processing with ARRI’s extensive experience in professional cinema.

For more than a century, ARRI has played a significant role in shaping the language of cinema, from the early days of film to today’s advanced digital camera systems. The film industry has recognised its contributions with 20 Scientific and Technical Awards from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The HONOR Magic9 Pro Max was showcased in a distinctive moss green finish, featuring an ARRI-branded camera module. Its lens arrangement also draws inspiration from the design language of ARRI’s iconic cinema cameras.

Beyond its design, the HONOR–ARRI collaboration brings selected elements of ARRI’s professional image science and cinema workflow to smartphone users. The partnership introduces technologies including ARRI LogC3, ARRI Wide Gamut 3 and ARRI Looks, giving creators greater flexibility throughout the production and post-production process.

ARRI LogC3 is designed to preserve more highlight and shadow information for post-production, while ARRI Wide Gamut 3 provides a broader colour space. Meanwhile, ARRI Looks enables creators to apply controlled cinematic colour styles to their footage.

The integration of these technologies aims to provide creators with greater creative control while making elements of professional filmmaking more accessible through a portable device.

The collaboration will also extend to the upcoming HONOR Magic9 Series, which is scheduled to launch first in China in late September and will further showcase ARRI imaging capabilities.

HONOR’s appearance at Venice follows its participation in other major international film events, including the 79th Cannes Film Festival and 28th Shanghai International Film Festival, where the HONOR Robot Phone was showcased to filmmakers and industry professionals.

Through its continued collaboration with ARRI and presence at leading film events, HONOR is exploring new possibilities in mobile filmmaking while bringing cinematic imaging technology closer to a wider generation of creators.
